The Ministry of HRD and the University Grants Commission are aiming to support higher education in the North Eastern Region (NER) for students who are economically weak and can’t afford higher education. To encourage these meritorious students the department launched ISHAN UDAY Scholarship to offer financial assistance to the selected students.

  • The ISHAN UDAY Scholarship will grant 10,000 scholarships that will be distributed to the beneficiary student through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at the rate of Rs. 5400 per month for General Degree courses and Rs. 7800 per month for Technical and Professional degrees.

The ISHAN UDAY Scholarship registration process requires that you meet the following qualifying requirements.

  • To be selected for the scholarship the applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  • The candidates must be a residents of the North Eastern Region.
  • The candidate must pursue professional, general, or technical courses in a college that has received UGC approval.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakhs.
  • An applicant must have graduated from a recognised high school, college, or university in the eastern region, including CBSE, ICSE, and NIOS, to be considered.
  • Candidates may profit from this scholarship if they have been admitted to integrated courses.

Selection Process Under Uday Scholarship Ishan

The ISHAN UDAY Scholarship must be used to meet the following requirements.

  • The applicant who received high scores in their 12th-grade examination will be given more consideration.

  • If there are no contenders for the open positions in one state, those positions are dispersed equally among the other states.

  • Here you have to select the Fresh/ Renewal Login option in accordance with your preference.

Is there any yearly income criteria for candidates’ selection under the scholarship?

Absolutely, only applicants whose yearly household income is less than or equivalent to Rs. 4.5 lakh are included in the scope of the programme.

Are applicants who are enrolled in integrated courses at universities that qualify eligible?

Yes. Applicants must be enrolled in integrated courses. However, the recipient will only get funding for the course’s undergraduate component.

If the recipient of the scholarship fails in the first or following years of study, will the scholarship be renewed?

No. If the recipient does not pass the yearly or term-end exams for the course, the scholarship will not be renewed.
