The Government of West Bengal has come up with a new initiative called West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship 2024 for the students of the state who belong to the Economically weaker section and from the SC community. The students who enrolled in classes 5th to 8th will get a scholarship for their studies. The students who are dominantly from West Bengal but due to studies shifted to another city, are also eligible for the West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship 2024. The portal aims to provide financial assistance to each and every beneficiary of the state.
The West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship was launched on the 19th of January 2023 by the CM of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee. Through the portal, selected students get INR 800. All the backward community students who want to do studies must register for the scholarship. The major information related to it will be covered in this article.
Importance of West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship
The CM of West Bengal inaugurated the West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship for the underprivileged and minority group students to offer them financial assistance so the students will continue their studies. During the inauguration ceremony, CM announced to distribution of various services to the candidates and around 50,000 services will be given to the beneficiaries. Students who are financially weak and not able to pay their school fees will be able to complete their studies. West Bengal is a state where a large no. of families are economically weak or belong to backward communities Helping them financially is the main motive of this scholarship. Students should submit their application form before the 30th of June 2023, which is the deadline for a scholarship.
Objective of West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship
Many communities in West Bengal never benefited from the central government scheme. At this time the CM of state took the initiative of financially helping these economically weak and backward communities by offering West Bengal Medhashree Scholarship. The students who will be able to apply for the scholarship will get financial assistance every month to pay their school fees. Students from classes 5th to 9th will be able to get the scholarship amount. With this scholarship, 2.63 lakh students will benefit annually and there will be a 17% reservation for OBC students of the state. This scholarship will support students in their efforts to complete their daily obligations or pursue further education.
