About Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council

The Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council was implemented by the Government of Assam and the representative organization of Sonowal Kachari for the people of the Sonowal Kachari community to provide them autonomy in 2005. The Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Act of 2005 states that the council will be made up of “satellite areas for the social, economic, educational, ethnic, and cultural advancement of the Sonowal Kachari and other Scheduled Tribe communities residing therein.”

Objective of Sonowal Kachari Scholarship

The main aim behind the implementation of the Sonowal Kachari Scholarship is to encourage or support the Sonowal Kachari Community students involved in the educational area to make their own space among the others. Many communities remain unaware of their rights. The students who are good at studies will get the chance to enroll in the Sonowal Kachari Scholarship and receive financial assistance. Through financial assistance students will freely pay their educational expenses without the financial burden. Through the scholarship amount, many financially weak students can complete their studies. It will increase the literacy rate in the state.

• Students must be a permanent resident of Assam.
• The candidate must belong to the Sonowal Kachari Community of Assam.
• Candidate must be enrolled in the following courses:
• IIT, IIM, M.Tech, M.A, M.Com, M.sc, Engineering, MBBS, etc.
• Students must score higher marks in their pursuing classes.
