Improving the district’s skill administration and district skill committee is the aim of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. With this vision, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with IIM-Bangalore, Government of India has created an initiative called Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) 2024. This MGNF is a 2-year fellowship programme for fellows who are at least graduated and belong to the age group of 21 to 30 years. Under this MGNF programme fellows will attend classroom sessions at IIMs with an intense field immersion at the district level.

Through this session the fellows will gain academic expertise and technical knowledge, they can build District Skill Development Plans, to assist district skill committees so they can manage skill development planning at the district level.

About Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship

The fellows who are interested in this Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) 2024, must be a graduate or postgraduate from an Indian-recognized college or university, with at least 2\3 year of work experience. The selected fellows will receive a stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month for the duration of 1 year and then they will get Rs. 60,000 per month in the next 2 years. With the help of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF), young and talented people can improve skill development and advance economic development.

  • After the completion of 2 years fellows programme the Fellow will be awarded a Certificate in Public Policy and Management. Candidates who are interested in applying for Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) 2024  must visit their official website to register. The last date for MGNF was on the 27th of March.

Gandhi National Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be permanent residents of India.
  • The age of fellows should be between 21 to 30 years old.
  • Fellows should be a graduate or post graduates from an Indian-recognized college or university, with at least 2\3 years of work experience.
  • If anyone is a government employee then they are not eligible for MGNF.
  • It will be required that you are fluent in the state’s official language during the fieldwork.

Selection Process

The selection process for MGNF will be done in the following ways:

  • Online Test: There will be an online test that contains Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The questions will be from quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, reasoning, and English language skills.
  • Group Discussion (GD): The purpose of the GD is to evaluate the candidate’s leadership abilities, group dynamics, and communication skills.
  • Personal Interview (PI):  The purpose of the PI is to assess the candidate’s overall personality, driving forces, and dedication to rural development.
