Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2024: Apply Online and Eligibility Criteria

The Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2024 was started by the Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) in 2015 to support girl students in Science and Technology. The girl students who are unaware of the facts and importance of science at a young age will be clueless about science during their educational period. Science, this scholarship has been financially supported by the Department of Science and Technology & Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal. The girl students need to qualify JBNSTS Junior Talent Science Test to be eligible for availing the benefits of a scholarship to pursue science in 11th standard.

This scholarship test will be held in 2 phases: the 1st phase contains a written test, and the 2nd phase has an interview. The selected girl student will receive INR 1,250 per month for 2 years( 11th to 12th) or INR 2,500 per annum as a book grant. This scheme will help to promote science and technology among the parents of girl students.

The Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search started the Junior Scholarship scheme in 2015 with the simple aim of encouraging girl students towards Science and identifying the educational need of creative or talented students. If we start building interest in students towards science from a young age, it will help them to develop their minds more towards it to make creative ideas. It has been seen that women always stay back in Science and Technology due to inequality, backward family thoughts, lack of access or other specific reasons. To create equality among boys and girls the Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2024 has been launched to promote girls’ education in the field of science from a very young age.

It is very well known that India is a country where a lot of great scientists and other science professionals are produced, but if we talk about the number of girls, it will be very less. because of societal discrimination, prejudice, and preconceptions

About Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS)

The Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) has been supported by the Government of West Bengal and the Governing Body with representatives from the State Government, Academics, and Industry. JBNSTS  was started in 1958, at that time it was initially seen as a scholarship scheme for granting scholarships to talented students. After some time JBNSTS has changed its pattern of only distributing scholarships. It has developed into a cutting-edge hub for identifying and nurturing young talented students in the STEM field who will eventually become leaders in their respective fields. JBNSTS will encourage students to develop their interest in science and technology. Its activities were restricted to state students at first and were first funded by the West Bengal government.

Objective of Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2023

The main aim of Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2024 is to bridge the gap between equality among girls and boys to motivate girls to opt for science as their main course from the initial stage of their education. After the 10th it will be required to select a specific subject which will lead you forward in the future. By choosing science as a core subject, girls will start to build their interest in it. Many talented and meritorious girl students cannot pursue STEM due to the unavailability of proper facilities, family pressure or financial assistance.

Encouraging students towards science will make a visible change in society. The young talented students in the STEM field will eventually become leaders in their respective fields.

Eligibility Criteria for Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship 2024

• Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal.
• Applicants must be girl students.
• Students must pass their 10th board exam or equivalent exam in the year of filling out the application form.
• Students must score 75% marks or equivalent CGPA in the 10th board and now must enroll in 11th standard and must opt for any of the 3 subjects from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science & others) in any school in West Bengal.
• If any candidate passes the 10th board before 2023, they are not considered for a scholarship.

• This scholarship has been financially supported by the Department of Science and Technology & Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal.
• The girl students need to qualify JBNSTS Junior Talent Science Test to be eligible for availing the benefits of scholarships to pursue science in 11th and 12th standard.

Documents Required

• Scan copy of class 10th mark sheet in jpg format.
• Scan copy of class 11th admission proof in jpg format like:
  • Fees receipt
  • Letter from HM
  • Principal
  • Identity card
  • Library card
• Passport-size photograph.
• Signature of the applicant.

Selection Process

The selection of students will be done based on the JBNSTS JuniorTalent Science Test. This will be held in 2 phases:  the 1st phase contains a written test, and the 2nd phase has an interview session which will be the final step. After the selection of shortlisted students from the written test, they will be called for an interview. All the students who are selected in both sessions are eligible for scholarships.
