This fellowship is a great motivation for OBC students to clear their exams with good marks and continue their higher secondary education without the pressure of arranging fees. The students will get a fellowship to do research work. Importance of National Fellowship for OBC
The UGC is an organization that is responsible for the implementation of various schemes for students who are pursuing M.Phil\Phd courses in the field of Science, Social Science, Engineering & Technology, or Humanities. This National Fellowship for OBC will cover all the Universities\Institutions recognized by the UGC. The selected students will get a fellowship for 5 years. In the initial 2 years, they get a fellowship as a Junior Research Fellowship and get a fellowship for 3 years as a Senior Research Fellowship.
- After the completion of 5 years, the duration of the fellowship will be completed. There will be 1000 seats available for the students and out of that 4% of seats are reserved for Physically disabled students.
- The students who are selected for JRF will be Rs. 25,000 per month and Rs. 28,000 will be given to students for SRF.

National Fellowship for OBC Eligibility
The students need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for fellowship:
- Applicants must belong to the Other Backward Class.
- Candidates must pass their Master’s course and apply for Phd\M.Phil course.
- Candidates must appear in the UGC-NET or CSIR-NET-UGC examination.
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of India.
- The students who are pursuing M.Phil\Phd courses in the field of Science, Social Science, Engineering & Technology, or Humanities are eligible to apply.
