Umbrella Pre Matric Scholarship ST Children
The scholarship is created in order to support the children who are coming from the scheduled tribe category and those currently studying in classes 9th and 10th. The students will be provided with proper opportunities so that they can continue their education without having to worry about the financial assistance that they need in order to pursue their courses. Scholarships along with other grants will be provided to the students. You will have to follow the following eligibility criteria in order to apply for these scholarships:
- Students should belong to Scheduled Tribe
- Her/his Parents’/Guardian’s income should not exceed Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum.
- She/he should not be getting any other Centrally-funded Pre-Matric Scholarship.
- She/ he should be a regular, full-time student studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Govt. or the Central/State Board of Secondary Education.
- Scholarships for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she/he will not get a scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year.
- Scholarships will be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakh only) per annum.
Umbrella Post Matric Scheme Scholarship Of ST Children
Umbrella Scholarship Meghalaya is also available for students who are coming from the scheduled tribe category and who want to continue their education in order to pursue higher education after they have completed their schooling in the Meghalaya state. The students can apply for the scholarship by visiting the official National scholarship portal and they will be eligible to also check out the application status of the scholarship by visiting the official National scholarship portal. - The scholarships are open to nationals of India.
- These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognised post-matriculation post-secondary courses pursued in recognised institutions with the following exceptions:
- “Scholarships are not awarded for training courses like Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Courses and Private Pilot Licence courses, courses at Training – Ship Dufferin (Now Rajendra), courses of training at the Military College, Dehradun and courses at pre-examination training centres of all India and State levels.”
- Only those candidates who belong to Scheduled Tribes so specified in relation to the State/Union Territory to which the applicant actually belongs (i.e. permanently settled) and who have passed the Matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education will be eligible.
- Candidates who after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in a different subject e.g. I.Sc after I.A. or B.Com after B.A. or M.A. in other subjects will not be eligible.
- Students who, after having completed their educational career in one professional line, wish to study for another profession e.g. LLB after B.T./B.Ed. will not be eligible. From the academic year 1980-81, however, studies in two professional courses are allowed.
- Students studying in Class XI of Higher Secondary Schools which have a continuous school course of 12th class will not be eligible. However, in cases where the X class examination of such courses is treated as equivalent to Matriculation and students after passing the tenth class can join other courses, such students will be treated as post-matric students and will be eligible for the award of scholarships.
- Students pursuing post-graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course.
- Students who after failing or passing the undergraduate/post-graduate examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce join any recognized professional or technical certificate/diploma/degree courses will be awarded scholarships if otherwise eligible. No subsequent failure will be condoned except for courses in Group ‘I’, and no further change in the course will be allowed.
- Students who pursue their studies through correspondence courses are also eligible. The term correspondence includes distant and continuing education.
- Employed students who take leave without pay for the entire duration of the course and study as full-time students will be eligible for scholarships. From the academic year 1980-81, employed students whose income combined with the income of their parents/guardians does not exceed the maximum prescribed income ceiling are made eligible for post-matric scholarships to the extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable non-refundable fees.
- All children of the same parents/guardians will be entitled to receive the benefits of the scheme.
- A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/stipend, the student can exercise his/her option for either of the two scholarships/stipends, whichever is more beneficial to him/her and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution about the option made. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts another scholarship/stipend. The student can, however, accept free lodging or a grant or ad hoc monetary help from the State Government or any other source for purchasing books, and equipment or for meeting the expenses on board and lodging in addition to the scholarship amount paid under this scheme.
- Students who have already received coaching in any of the pre-examination training centres with financial assistance from the Government will not be eligible.
- Scholarships will be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rs. two lakhs only) per annum.
Scholarship For Pre-service Student Teacher Under D.EL.ED Course:
This scholarship is created in order to attract the best people so that they can take up teaching as a profession and through this scholarship high-quality educational services will be provided to the students who are currently in rural areas of India. The students will be provided with additional resources so that they can continue their education. The students must follow the eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarships. You can follow the simple eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship:
- Class XII passed or its equivalent examination from recognized Boards/Councils with 50% marks with 5% relaxation for ST/SC/OBC/PWD.
- Candidates waiting for Class – XII results may also apply provided they produce their provisional/original documents at the time of counseling.
- There will be block-wise allocation of seats to facilitate the availability of trained teachers locally in the respective blocks.
- The Minimum Age limit is 18 years and the maximum age is 27 years as of 01.01.2020 relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PWD.
STSE For Tribal Students(CLASS IX AND X) In Mathematics And Science Award:
This scholarship is for the students studying in class VIII every year in all the Sub Divisional School Education Office (SDSEO) of the State the Exam is meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya who belong to Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Koch, Hajong. The number of awardees is 40 (forty) from SDSEO Shillong, East Khasi Hills and 20 (twenty) awardees from the remaining 14 (fourteen) SDSEOs. The incentives awarded in the form of financial assistance amounting to Rs. 600/- only per month per awardee for twelve months for two years from class IX-X will be provided. Students must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship:
- They should be studying in Class VIII in any type of school in Meghalaya.
- They should be the tribal student of Meghalaya.
- They should secure at least 50 marks in the aggregate in Mathematics and
- Science in Class VII.
- They should be continuing their studies in any recognized secondary school.
Award For Meritorious Tribal Student- HSSLC Science:
This is a one-time award for meritorious tribal students of Meghalaya who passed the current HSSLC Examination (Science)
every year. The number of awardees is 80 with 20 awardees from East Khasi Hills and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) districts. The selection of awardees is based on the merit of a student who secured 60% and above in the said Examination district – wise and the award is meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya. The one-time award is Rs. 10,000/- per awardee along with a certificate. You can check the eligibility criteria from the pointers given below:
- The award will be based on the merit of students in the current HSSLC Examination (Science Stream) mainly from schools/colleges of the different districts of the state.
- It is a one-time award meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya i.e., who possess the Schedule tribe certificate of Meghalaya.
- The number of awardees will be selected district-wise – wise i.e., 20 (twenty) awardees from East Khasi Hills district and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) districts.
- The list of awardees will be furnished by the Controller of Examinations MBOSE Tura after the declaration of the current HSSLC Examination (Science).
- DERT will inform the concerned Principal of school/colleges to inform the concerned students to submission of necessary documents to DERT, Shillong.
- The screening of all necessary documents will be done immediately by DERT, Shillong.
- Final Selection of awardees will be done by DERT after screening the documents of the students.
- In case there are no awardees entitled to the award in any district, the award will be diverted to the students who are top among the students on the waiting list.
- After verification of the required documents of all awardees, the award amounting to Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) only per awardee will be transferred through NEFT to the account of the awardees and the certificate will be sent by post to the awardee’s residential address.
Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Matric Scholarship For SC Students (CLASS IX & X):
This scholarship is created in order to provide proper opportunities related to the people who are currently pursuing 9th and 10th class in the Meghalaya state but this scholarship is only available for the students who belong to the schedule caste category. The main objective of this scholarship is to provide proper opportunities to the students and you can check out the major information about the eligibility criteria from the pointers given below:
- Students should belong to a Scheduled Caste.
- His/ her Parent’s/Guardian’s income should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh per annum.
- A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other educational scholarship for the purpose of studying in class lX and X. lf awarded any other educational scholarship for studying in class 9th and 1Oth, the student can avail of the two scholarships as per his /her choice and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the institution about the option made.
- The conditions stipulated in this Ministry’s notification no.428 dated 16.02.2017 relating to provisions contained in Section 7 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act 2016 are to be followed with the further stipulation that if, for any reason, the authentication of Aadhaar fails in respect of any applicant, such an individual should be permitted to establish his or her identity by any other means so that genuine persons are not deprived of their benefits.
- She/ he should be a regular, full-time student studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Govt. or the Central/State Board of Secondary Education.

This is a scholarship that is available for students who have completed their class 12th education and now want to pursue higher education in the Meghalaya state but they do not have the required financial resources to continue their education. Selection Process
