Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program 2024-25 for International Students

The United States Government has created an international education and cultural exchange flagship program called the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. Under this Fulbright  Visiting Scholar Program students, scholars, researchers, and teachers from 160 countries including India get an opportunity to study, teach, conduct research, exchange their ideas, and new thoughts, and contribute to a mutual understanding to create something better for their own community or solve the problems the world is facing.

The Fulbright scholars get a chance to improve their knowledge and thinking ability, obtain insightful global perspectives, and when they return to their home countries, they will share their experiences with their students and colleagues to make new changes. Under the Fulbright specialist program around 1700 fellowships will be offered every year and 900 fellows will go to the U.S. for fellowship and 800 U.S. fellows will go to other countries.

What is the Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program says: OUR MISSION YOUR FUTURE” which means this program is a great influence for the researchers, faculties, artists or other professionals from around 160 countries to develop their working skills, and teamwork, get extra knowledge under the influence of other researchers to do something better and great for your own home, host institution or for the country. The Academic disciplines across the board benefit from the influence and success of Fulbright Scholars.

• The Fulbright Program will invite 1700 fellows from all over the world to the U.S. and in other countries. As when these scholars go back to their country they will be able to manage the research or other works more efficiently or with more uniqueness.
• When we work under the guidance of others it will develop our thinking ability or to work in a different way to identify answers to the problems our globe and community are facing.

Eligibility Criteria for Fulbright Visiting Scholar

• Applicants must belong to a country that is participating in the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program.
• Applicants who are U.S. residents or permanent residents of the U.S. are not eligible for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program.
• The candidates should be college and university faculty, administrators, and Fulbright visiting student researchers, as well as artists and professionals.
• Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent degree or training at the time of application.
• Candidates must be fluent in speaking English to communicate in the U.S. during their fellowship period.

Reward Details Of Fulbright Visiting Scholar

There are 4 types of awards available for scholars. Researchers, administrative or professionals:

Fulbrights Scholars Awards

• There are a bulk of awards for professionals, artists, and scholars at all career levels depending upon the location and eligibility. 

Fulbright Postdoctoral Awards

• The Post Doctor award will be provided to scholars who are currently graduates to get an opportunity to conduct research and receive professional training abroad. This Postdoctoral Fulbright Scholarship.Is open to scholars who will receive a doctoral degree within five years of the fellowship.

Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award

• The Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award will be given to senior scholars who are involved in international institutions with a. Strong record of teaching and significance of publication.

Fulbright International Administrators Award

• Senior higher education administrators and foreign education specialists attend two-week-long intensive seminars to learn about the educational system of the host countries and expand their global networks.

Selection process

• Applicants need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for applying under the Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program by the Fulbright Commission/Foundation or the public affairs section of the U.S. embassy in their home countries.
• When a candidate is selected in their home country, the final decision will be taken by the presidentially appointed Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB) in the United States.

• Applicants need to visit the Fulbright Commission/Foundation or the public affairs section of the U.S. Embassy’s official website.
• From there you will get all the relevant information about the application process and deadline for the scholarship.
