Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search JBNSTS is an Autonomous Registered Society in Kolkata West Bengal. The West Bengal government is the organization’s promoter, and a governing body made up of representatives from the state government, academia, and business handles its management. The JBNSTS was founded in 1958 to honor the birth centennial of Acharya J C Bose, India’s first modern scientist, and was conceptualized by visionaries like Sir Jehangir Ghandy and Dr. B C Roy. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave the program its formal opening. As stated by the West Bengal government’s Department of Higher Education, it has special institution status.
JBNSTS Junior Scholarship
The JBNSTS junior scholarship offers financial support to worthy West Bengali students who wish to pursue higher education. JBNSTS is looking for those who have completed their tenth-grade education to award scholarships to the chosen candidates. Candidates will earn 1000 Rupees per month for about two years under this new scholarship. The candidates must pass a written exam to be considered for this scholarship program. Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants need to have earned at least 75% of their possible points in class 10.
- They must have been enrolled in any West Bengali school in Class 11 in the science stream for the current academic year.
- The following topics must be selected by candidates: computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, statistics, and statistics.
Reward Details
- For two years, INR 1,250 would be given to selected individuals per month (Classes 11 and 12).
- They will also get a book grant of INR 2,500 per year in addition to this.
JBNSTS Senior Scholarship
The students who have passed the class 12th or higher secondary exams can avail themselves of the JBNSTS Senior scholarship. Those who completed or attempted to pass the Class 12 test in 2024 are eligible for the JBNSTS Senior Scholarship. To qualify, they must also pursue degrees in Basic Sciences in West Bengal. One of JBNSTS’s main initiatives that has been in place since the school’s founding in 1958 is the Senior Scholarship program. From its inception as merely a scholarship program, it has grown into a comprehensive educational philosophy aimed at nurturing enthusiastic science students. Systematic research on gifted people’s educational needs has made this possible.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have passed or are currently enrolled in Class 12th in West Bengal.
Reward Details
- Candidates who meet the requirements will receive Rs. 4,000 every month until their undergraduate degree is finished.
- In addition to the baseline scholarship sum, they will receive an annual book allowance of Rs. 5,000.

Selection Process
- The test will cover topics in mathematical, biological, and physical sciences. There will be a total of 90 marks available for this two-hour exam.
- Invitations to the interview round at a specific time and venue will be sent to the students who made the shortlist. The scholarship is awarded to those who complete the interview phase.
- Students are encouraged to bring a hard copy of the interview letter along with the required documentation to the interview.
- In the third phase, the pupils’ creative ability will be evaluated.
